Recipe Development 101

Recipes are extremely popular. From online blogs to cookbooks to magazines, recipes provide unique, in demand content. Registered Dietitians, health professionals, and food-based professionals have the power to use recipes to help engage, inspire, and educate clients and consumers. However, recipe writing is often not taught and can lead to questions or issues. This course will go through recipe development basics and invaluable recipe writing tools and techniques to help participants develop, write, edit, and perfect for a variety of platforms.

How to Give an Effective Cooking Demo

Culinary demonstrations enable Registered Dietitians and food-based professionals to communicate nutrition and/or culinary information to consumers, entertain their audience, teach basic or advanced cooking skills, and showcase healthy recipes that are affordable, easy to prepare at home, and flavorful. Gaining the confidence to cook in front of a captive audience—on-site, online via a LIVE on social media or a virtual event, or on TV—is a critical skill set for RDs working in clinical, community, and private practice settings. This course will teach how to organize and implement a dynamic cooking demonstration and provide a primer on audience, location, and equipment identification, recipe selection, and tips for cooking in front of a crowd or camera.

Affordable Eating

Regardless of income, budget and affordability are major factors to consider when thinking about food purchases and grocery shopping. Nutritious food can be accessible and achievable for all.
